A new book by Patches of Light CEO, Mindy Atwood.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this project from the beginning and now to this new beginning of supporting CHD kiddos! All proceeds of the book will go to help CHD families who we assist across the USA. If you ordered a book in the beginning of our process I will be sending it to you as soon as they come in. I am so honored to be able to share my experiences with having a child with a congenital heart defect, as well as share with other children facing what my son did. I will begin doing some on-site readings at the hospitals and elsewhere to share and support CHD kids.
The book will be on sale at Amazon as well as other sites soon.
Thank you so much again and remember, “The only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.” — Michelle Obama
It’s summertime, and everyone is having fun at the pool. Everyone except a young boy
named Mike. He has undergone open-heart surgery and is nervous about showing his scar. Will the kids at the pool make fun of him? His friend Emma sees his worry and comes up with a plan to make him feel better. She enlists their pals to join in, and with the help of an artist who draws scars on their chests, they create the “Zipper Club.”
The Zipper Club is an inspiring story of friendship, empathy, and confidence told through rhyme. Join Mike as he learns that through acceptance and understanding, we can all empower others to feel self-confident.
Inspired by her son and nephew, both of whom have undergone open-heart surgery, and her son’s experience with accepting his scar, Mindy Atwood wrote The Zipper Club.
Mindy is the CEO and Founder of Patches of Light, a non-profit organization that assists with children who have been scarred by catastrophic injury or illness. She currently lives with her husband, Rod, her granddaughter, Alexis, and their dog, Finnegan. The Zipper Club is her first book.
